L’opera è un buon esempio di divulgazione della conoscenza scientifica e dell'interazione tra uomo e ambiente.

Through the story of research in the field, as well as activities that involve and respect the local population, the documentary effectively depicts the importance of a naturalistic subject of which little is known about: the baobab trees in Madagascar. The work shown in this film is a good example of the dissemination of scientific knowledge, as well as of the interaction between humans and environment.

The documentary highlights the rigorous scientific work of two Italian researchers. Their message is perfectly clear and direct. They effectively demonstrate the problems of climate change through photographic comparison between historical and current images, pointing out the impact of this important issue.

This story deals with the current issue of coexistence between humans and wild animals. It shows us a variety of solutions used some European protected areas, without discriminating against humans or animals. This story demonstrates that with simple modifications coexistence is possible.

In maniera molto diretta, quest’opera pone l’accento sull’assunzione di responsabilità individuale nella convivenza con gli elefanti. Spiega con chiarezza perché la conservazione di questa specie sia così importante. La scelta di affidare il semplice commento alla voce dei bambini, è un invito a diventare protagonisti e artefici del futuro di quelle terre.

In a very direct manner, this film emphasizes that one must assume individual responsibility, in order to coexist with elephants. It explains why the preservation of this species is very important. The decision to use children narrators is an invitation for them to actively protect the future of their lands and way of life.

Il documentario colpisce particolarmente per la peculiarità dell’ambiente presentato in ogni momento dell’anno, per questo risulta completo, affascinante; non vengono omesse scene che potrebbero essere considerare “forti” a vantaggio del realismo. È di grande efficacia la tecnica del montaggio che evidenzia il cambiamento del paesaggio nel corso delle stagioni. La colonna sonora sottolinea in modo coinvolgente i diversi aspetti della vita di animali e piante tipici di questo singolare habitat.

 

The documentary is quite striking, due to singularities shown all-year-round in this environment. The documentary has all the right elements. It is fascinating! Violent scenes were not omitted, giving it a cutting, realistic edge. The editing technique is very effective, because it highlights the ever-changing landscape throughout the seasons. The soundtrack emphasizes many facets of typical plant and animal life in this unique environmental setting.

Le immagini vivide, la narrazione mai sopra le righe, la musica altamente evocativa, la cura delle inquadrature e dei particolari, fanno di questo documentario un affresco poetico sul rapporto animale-natura. Finito ed infinito, presente e passato si fondono nel fluire dell'acqua.

 

The powerful message of uncontaminated nature in a documentary, on a whole, is rare, but this film was skillfully produced and directed with savoir-faire. This documentary is an indispensable chart to help future generations understand their unique cultural heritage and help them preserve their environment and its creatures. The images are lively. The narrator never went over-board. The soundtrack is captivating. The close attention given to framing and detailed shots make this documentary a poetic piece, especially in relation to animals and nature. The present and past, the finite and infinite become one in flowing waters.
